Centereach Native Is A Shot-Blocking Force To Be Reckoned With

Jerome Bailey - Hofstra Men’s Basketball Power Forward Greg Washington is in the midst of a successful junior season that has seen him become the school’s all-time leader in blocked shots. Washington’s success at Hofstra is the culmination of many years competing in multiple sports and the Centereach native can thank his mother, Corine, for the decision to concentrate on basketball while motivating him to be a defensive force for a Division I program just 35 miles from where he grew up.

Adelphi Selected To Host 2011 NCAA DII/DIII Women's Lacrosse Championships

Garden City, N.Y. - The NCAA Division II and III Women's Lacrosse Committee has announced that Adelphi University will host the 2011 NCAA Division II and III Women's Lacrosse Championship on Competition Field on May 21 and 22, 2011. This marks the first time the Final Four will be played in New York.

Hofstra Picked to Win CAA Lacrosse Title, Card Tabbed as Preseason Player of the Year

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra, which finished last season with an unblemished league mark of 6-0, is picked to win the 2010 CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship according to a vote conducted by all six league coaches. The Pride, which picked up five of the possible six first-place votes, edged out second-place Massachusetts in the poll. The Minutemen, along with Penn State, will be CAA Men’s Lacrosse newcomers following a league realignment prior to the 2010 season. The league’s coaches also selected Hofstra junior attacker Jay Card as the CAA’s Preseason Player of the Year.

Jesse Broome - A banker, a teacher, a cable television installer – these are the New York Wizards of the Eastern Basketball Alliance (EBA), a league consisting of 17 teams from Virginia to Connecticut.  Unbeknownst to many Long Islanders, the New York Wizards have existed since 2008 and provide an outlet for aspiring basketball players to showcase their talent.
