Despite last night's 80-72 loss to Charlotte I am very excited about the 2009/2010 Hofstra men's basketball team, which is 3-3 with two of those losses coming to number-one ranked Kansas and 12th-ranked UConn. Hofstra actually led UConn by nine with nine minutes left last week and they showed in that game they can compete with the best in the nation. The Pride feature junior guard Charles Jenkins, who won last year's Haggerty Award given to the top player in the NYC metro area, as well as some exciting freshman like point guard Chaz Williams, a second-team All New York City selection from Brooklyn. Hofstra's next home game is this coming Monday night against Fairfield starting at 7 p.m. and I encourage fans to try and attend some games this season, as it should be an exciting one.
