Adelphi Selected To Host 2011 NCAA DII/DIII Women's Lacrosse Championships

Garden City, N.Y. - The NCAA Division II and III Women's Lacrosse Committee has announced that Adelphi University will host the 2011 NCAA Division II and III Women's Lacrosse Championship on Competition Field on May 21 and 22, 2011. This marks the first time the Final Four will be played in New York.

Selden's Steve Mazzurco Signs Free Agent Contract With Traverse City Beach Bums

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Former Stony Brook outfielder Steve Mazzurco '09 has signed a free agent contract with the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League, the organization recently announced. Mazzurco is the 30th Stony Brook player to sign a professional contract under head coach Matt Senk and the 22nd to sign since the Seawolves made the move to Division I in 2000.

Hewlett Native Dom DeNapoli Selected In 2010 MLL Supplemental Draft

QUEENS, N.Y. -  On Thursday, December 10th, St. John's lacrosse alumnus Dom DeNapoli became the second Red Storm player in two years to be selected in the Major League Lacrosse Draft. DeNapoli was selected in the ninth round of the 2010 Supplemental Draft by the Long Island Lizards.

Hofstra To End Intercollegiate Football Program To Invest In Academic Initiatives

Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra University’s Board of Trustees has decided to eliminate Hofstra’s Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, formerly known as Division 1-AA)  intercollegiate football program, and reinvest those resources into new academic programs and need-based scholarships, President Stuart Rabinowitz announced [Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00AM].

Adelphi's Panther Coaches Dominate Long Island Girl's Soccer

Garden City, N.Y.-While several Long Island high schools celebrated championship success, Adelphi women's soccer alumni were front and center. Shannon Sepe Keenan '93, Lea Brady '06 and Jesseca (Ericksen) Kulesa '01, all led their respective squads to championships and all were coached by current Adelphi Head Women's Coach Rich Ilsley.
